Somebody That Knows Russian

Post by shiftey »

I got the following using Google translator:

Остановка на КПП

If you know Russian fairly well can you please tell me if this is right, and also if there is a more appropriate way to word it in Russian.

It is for a sign in a map I am working on.

Please refrain from posting if you can't read it without a translator.

Thanks in advance.

This means : "Stop at checkpoint".
Stop as: "This is a stop at checkpoint".
But NOT as: "You must stop at checkpoint".

What exactly do you want there?

Well in America the sign would say "Stop at Checkpoint".

Basically I want the sign to mean "There is a checkpoint ahead. Be prepared to stop." However it is a military road sign so it must be short and commanding.

EDIT: Also if there is any particular font that the Soviet army used a lot let me know.

Basically, its red\white colored stuff with

STOP
------
КОНТРОЛЬ

"Контроль" is "check" in Russian.

Alright that will work. I guess if I have anymore questions about Russian I'll post it here.

Thanks for the help.
