Black Mesa Co-op canceled: Could OC fill the gap?

Post by Idx »

I've read that the co-op mode for BM is canceled and thought, whether OC could fill that gap by giving the ability to mount the BM content.

Of course, the main problem is, that the source of BM isn't released, but what do you think in general about it?

I assume when it comes out we can mount the content(textures, models, sounds, maps), but if they created new entities or modified the Source code in any way(I assume they did), then those modifications won't show up in O.C.

It will, and when it does, I'll give the team a reward:

Pretty straightforward.

but good luck neico with that, I would love to see a partnership between the two mods for a better hl1 co-op experience ;)

With all the progress Black Mesa has made, it's impossible not to make a release. Even if that release won't be for a long time.

It may be possible. One of the devs have stated that co-op will be possible if another team is willing to make it. OC Devs could maybe talk to the BM Devs about it.

i've been trying to talk to their mod dev since monday now, and it only proves my statement:

mod devs are generally not willing to talk to anyone but their team ffs

They sure are taking their sweet time. Longer than valve. I mean you can't blame valve cuz they never announced ep3. :p

I think its a bridge too far!

As much as I'd love to see it. BM is just too custom built for well BM. You'd struggle to get anything to work as its heavily custom coded. Models and faceposing are just one example, If my memory serves me well the sdk aspects are custom built.

Please, have patience and don't give up on it that fast!

They are probably just undecided about the co-op topic and simply to busy to respond at this time. Maybe we have to wait until the mod is released to the public.

But "leave nothing undone", because a co-operation between BM and OC would have much potential in my eyes.

Its possible if we are lucky.

The problem is simple: Lots and lots of hard work to do (coding, mapping, servers...).
