[MapAdd] Enhanced oc_lobby_modify 1.0.0

Post by TESLA-X4 »

I know I should have released this ages ago, but anyway, I've made some changes to the default oc_lobby_modify file to add new features.

Notable changes:
- Added a delayed door unlock system, complete with a countdown timer
  - During this period, the doors will seem to be breakable (information about the map is shown and damage sounds are heard), but have so much health it's impossible to do so
- Added two new lines for extra information about the map (download size and map layout)
- Added notifications for when a map is selected
- The initiating player will be forced to announce their action, so self-voters will be identifiable
- Increased the health of the random door to 2500, and the Half-Life (1 & 2) campaign doors to 2000
- Changed the base format of each door's modify block for a cleaner look

Of course, this would be hard to picture without screenshots, so here's some.

Known Bugs/Limitations:
- All Half-Life campaign doors will display "Half-Life Campaign" as the selected map regardless of whether it is HL:S/HL2/LC/EP1/EP2

Warning: this is a default mapadd, you must edit it further to add your own maps!
Apparently, Valve can't make games beyond the number 2.
I think the only time we'll get a Source SDK code update is when it starts having purchasable hats integrated, i.e. hatconomy.

Please do not make assumptions you are not knowledgeable enough to make - that just backfires on yourself.
Tick me off, and I'll be sure to give you the golden treatment. Haven't you heard? Silence is golden.

"Half-Life Campaign" is a bug or future improvement?

@Dominichax
You need to be able to list multiple mapadds by multiple authors for one map, should someone else write a script for the same map.

So really say for this particular map, you could add a subsection under that maps page for a list of available
custom mapadd scripts - written by .... Description of mapadd and its functions, also one day you'll come across multiple custom-cfg files etc.
For instance I've written cs_compound scripts and de_train, so has scorp75, should someone want to choose between the two it would be helpful, seeing as mapadds are an additional aspect of a map.

Well its an idea, just a way to associate a mapadd to a map yet still seperate the script authors work from the map authors and other script authors.

It would be nice to see various custom made campaign mapadds that add to what ever the mod default ones are, depending on steamworks update.

It would be very nice if you could make a waypoint show up if a door is taking damage. Maybe make it show up for 5 seconds if a door is damaged while not checking if it is being damaged during that 5 seconds to prevent spam. This would speed up the identification of self voters to a point where they could be stopped completely.
