Missile RPG7

Here's some thing I made for a friend from my mapping forums, perhaps some of you like it, too:

Image

This replacement model for the normal hl² missile is pretty much looking like what I found on the internet as references for an rpg7.
I chose the camouflage look to make it match better with the guy's rpg viewmodel.... however, i think it's pretty though, and I'm using this model as it's not that retail thing (which is pretty ugly in my eyes)....

here the download link:
http://files.filefront.com/missile+rpgr ... einfo.html

Hope you like it.

cya, guys

EDIT:

Well, i changed it because no one liked it xD

Some screenshots in sunlight

And here some inside a building with a nearly white light (please ignore the light mo0dels on the ceiling, they have their lighting origin set near a very, VERY bright yellow light  ).

So here's the reflections in darkness:

I've never seen someone actually camoflauge the warhead of an RPG-7.. and this is why... :( The warheads are red tipped (camo or not) and the pole containing the fins of the rocket is either black or a darkish grey.

OK, guys, If you like, I could reskin it, when I have some time :D

Is that a nice suggestion or what? lol

Edit: If this damned google wasn't down, I'd start the work right now -.-

Nothing wrong with camo, But you need to add some Numbers/writing and detail to it, Some rings around the body with a darker texture.
It's better than anything I could ever produce, so yeah revise it and release it :)

Almost finished the new diffuse map yet, but I will work on a bump- and a new specularmap before releasing the new version... so hang on, guys :D

Oh, btw... hell and alyxie, nothing wrong with your comments, I don't want to argue, but do you think, rebels want their missiles to be discovered by the combine? especially with a red tip that would make EVERYTHING be discovered by EVERYBODY

It would be like:
-"Oh, there's something red in the bushes"
-"Ah, don't worry, that's just a rebel missile... well, I think, we'll just take it with us, or they're gonna attack us"
-"Ah, and there's another one... Oh, and here and there... the whole place is full of red-tipped rebel missiles, better get some troops here..."

well... now i've made it look a little like the cod4 rpg-7 and added a red line around the tip, but perhaps i will remove this line again..

@fug: btw., what should i add as text? "Rebels Inc. - Missile Production: We'll look after your self protection"? XD

think i won't add any text, when the new texture is finished, but i will just test, how a text would look like and then decide whether or not

bye,
Blues

Rockets are supposed to be in crates, not lying on the ground in a forest.

Camo makes no sense considering the only time you'll get to see one is right before it explodes your brains off.

I thank you for a kind response but to answer your question, yes I do think Rebels want to conceal their rockets, but I don't think one would be dumb enough to explosives in a bush. Ever notice in shows, movies, and T.V. specials/reports how the RPGs and their rockets are hiddin in places like holes in the walls, dresser drawers, or in plain sight. Besides they're most likely to be found in armories and/or (like Hell said) supply crates, or on top of a supply crate. I'ved seen camo on launchers before but merely on the wooden areas. As for the rockets, the mid section I guess would make sense to add camo but the tail of the rocket is not painted for a reason. The camo would burn off when the rocket is launched from the tube of the RPG.
Plus I can see the point your trying to make so please don't take this as an insult. I'm simply trying to say that only a combat inexperience/untrained combatant would try to hide rockets in a bush. even in Somalia, gun capitol of the world, noone hides rockets in easy to see places. They're either most likely on the RPG itself or in crates or armory of some sort.

If saddam hussein hides in a hole in the ground, I think you'd all be surprised where people hide things of Value when they are desperate.
You can theorise all day where some one might hide something.
End of the day it's a damn computer game, want realism go play Americas Army!
I can only speak for british military, But all weapons and assests are camoflauged! even if its a simply shade of green or black! And what do you know if they go on desert operations they have to paint most stuff to suite location.

On the other hand new skins for weapons is a welcome change to the norm.

Thank you guys, lol

I don't really take your posts as an insult, Alyxie... it's more like I think if
I could improve the skin with your advice... I'm always open to criticism
(the only thing I don't like is hell's rude way... :? )

I actually did change the tail color to a dark grey... so this is what the rpg
might look like now (This is rendered in XSI, I think it will look a little
different ingame)
