Actually there were three different questions, the first two were answered and I didn't bother about them after that, but still the last one is more declared as "never ever" than answered.

Hes called failord for a reason,i remember being on a server and him being the only one without the player model packs.

I never bothered to download the playermodel packs. Mainly because those anime models with the giant heads have jumped straight out of the uncanny valley and into my nightmares.

How do you know that the responsible file can't be opened with the program in which it was written? Is it protected or just not editable?

its the lawws of the source engine, you cant open the source codee its just nottt possible.

as developer do you have files called source code files, usually .h and .cpp file...

those will be send trough the compiler which in the end creates the server and client.dll (an compiled junk of those source code files), so unless you know assembler and got an good decompiler you aren't even able to read a tiny bit of what the dlls do, and even if you know assembler and have the dll code decompiled (which will give you assembler code) will you not be able to restore those source code files, you could only try to write them yourself with the assembler code... which makes no sense is most cases

Hm, seems to be a greater deal than I've guessed, didn't thought about different source code files that have to be compiled. Thanks for that information, I think that's what I wanted to know.

Though I assume that some Dev still have the changeable uncompiled source files, which could be used to create an alternate DLL-file for the next Mod-Version, without forced models? (Unless that process would take too much effort.)
