As you can probably (hopefully) tell from the title, its a map of the internet. No pictures yet or anything, because its all too devy. Ill post them up as soon as I get around to it. Despite the title, you aren't surfing the internet the entire time. At the beginning you can decide wether to use the Firefox browser or the Internet Explorer browser. Haven't decided what the perks are for them, suggestions are welcome.

Backstory: Its the year 2014, roughly 2 years after December 21, 2012, otherwise known as the Great Internet Apocalypse. Viruses and bad things have flourished and now populate most of areas of the once great internet.

The Great NPC Re-Naming Chart:

Zombie - Corrupt File (Nothing New)

Fast Zombie - Corrupt Shortcut (Low HP, but moves fast and deals lots of damage)

Poison Zombie - Corrupt Archive (Nothing New)

Headcrab - Bug (Nothing New)

Fast Headcrab - Spam (Come in great, game-crashing numbers)

Poison Headcrab - Critical Bug (Nothing New)

Antlion - Big Bug (Nothing New)

Antlionguard - Worm (Pop out of nowhere around players and throw them around)

Gargantua - Troll (Nothing New)

Jumpsuit Citizen - File (Defensless / Friend)

Citizen W/ White Shirt - User (Nothing New / Friend) / Hacker (Wallhacks, Aimbot - although its just higher damage -, maybe speedhacks if setting NPCs speed works for me)

Rebel Blue Shirt - Internet Explorer (Friend or Enemy)

Rebel Green Shirt - Firefox Clan Member (Friend or Enemy)

Metropolice - Grammer Gestapo (Usually shell players before attacking)

Zombine - Bad Upload (Attract trolls like crazy)

Combine - Decent Upload (Friend)

Combine Elite - Good Upload (Neautral with trolls, enemies with other uploads)

Kliener - Mingebag (Slow players down when close, nearly impossible to kill without a special weapon, flash the player's screen when one is around)

Spyware - Assassins (Nothing New)

Corrupt Program - Any machine like manhacks and rollermines (Nothing New)

Roflcopter - Helicopter (Very powerfull machine gun. The Roflcopter Force used to clear out viruses, but now is under control of the Grammer Gestapo. Clear out the airfield early on, and they will become your allies, at the cost of not getting access to better weapons in Amazon.com. Decisions, decisions...)

Now, I really want to include more npcs (bullsquids, houndeyes, and stuff like that), but I cant seem to match them up with an internet term. Suggestions are welcome, and are needed. Immensly needed.

Layout: The map will use the merchant system similar to the one seen on oc_sso_whatever version it was, but obviously some different things to buy. You'll start out on the desktop to clear some corrupted files and programs to get some points. Then you'll head to default locations on the desktop like the Recycling Bin (Trash Yard), My Documents (Small Town), and My Computer (Factory thing), then head off to go to the internet.

On the desktop, you'll find some other locations such as: A shortcut to Ebay.com (Cheap Items, but atleast its something right?), and Google.com (Used to fast travel to websites after someone finds them). You can suggest some more stuff to put on before its too late, as right now I'm mainly working out the layouts for the levels you go into.

Anyways, when you go into the internet, you have to surf it. It's that platform surfing thing you see in CS:S. Haven't attempted it in OC, but it should be possible. So, you surf around in a series of tubes, and at some points you can find a teleport to a website. Once someone has gotten to a new website, you can fast travel to it through the Google Shortcut on your Desktop. Then you keep site hopping, and most of the time with each website you clean, you get some special reward. (For example, clearing out Amazon.com gives you access to better weapons).

Website names will generally be taking literally (amazon.com is a forest, steampowered.com is a steam lab thing, etc..) or by what goes on in it (garrysmod.org is an extremely large storage facility overrun by trolls and bad uploads).

That's basically it, you just website hop until every website is nice and beautiful again. Still trying to think of the final boss... Perhaps a big truck? As you can tell, this map is meant to be silly, and a small fun map with some giggles. I won't focus too much on details, more on how well gameplay and performance is, but this doesn't mean it will be fullbright with that same citadel wall texture everywhere. Oh and I'll naturally have to put in the worst music in, mostly Justin Beiber and raps. Kidding, maybe..

For the 4th or 5th time or so, suggestions are welcome. And are needed. Immensly needed. Desperatly, heart-clenchingly needed. Mostly on what to name unused NPC's and what websites I should have.

Well, is a good start have a history of the map, but without a map is completely useless.

Use animated textures like the characters of letters like Matrix, or glowy (blue, green, red...) lines. Maybe have a animated 2D skybox (or 3D, if you prefer) is a good option.

Center in create the very basic geometry of the map. Effects, npcs and more stuff is secondary.

I have the map. The very basic rooms and hallways and main objectives that tie the map together. I don't really think anyone wants to see a bunch of dev textured shapes with NPC's running around on them.

No 3d skybox, because the map is made out of teleports to different locations and then stuff in the skybox will counter with real-world stuff. I'm not creating a skybox thats bigger than the actual map sections put together. Plus you will be able to see it from weird angles depending on what section you're at. Custom 2d one, yeah.

As for custom textires, I get those off of the internet, and I'm not exactly a pro at image editing. Honestly I can barely make a transparent background.

bullsquids - zipped file
houndeyes - PORN file
I think that's all I do and some times/a lot of the time that gets me into trouble.
