Boredom

I've been Vegetarian for about 5 years , my GF has been a veggie for about 17 years, anyhow yesterday we found out most of the wine and beer we drink is not vegetarian.

All sorts of animal parts go into making wine and beer, crazy!

They are vegetarians, not vegans. Those types of things are only important for vegans.

I know. But it beats the purpose of not eating meat. The point of not eating meat is to not feel guilty about contributing to the slaughter of DEM CUTE ANIMALZ. If you still use something that comes out of TEM KOOTE ANUMLZ then you are doing something wrong. Not only that, it is said that vegetarians can eat fish. Why? They got feelings too. Hell, it's even more cruel for them. They bunched up real close together and then suffocate out in the air. That's like drowning every farm animal en masse.

Yes fish have feelings. They tested that out by getting a bunch of goldfish. Rigging an aquarium with electrodes, not too strong, they don't die from it and don't spasm either, and then everytime they would pass a certain line: SHOCK. After a while they never pass that line. If they couldn't feel pain, then they would just keep on going there.

So not eating meat but using everything else that comes from that same animal is hypocritical to me. Not to mention the fish.

And here's where you let yourself down, its virtually unavoidable to a certain degree, unless I'm some sort of self sufficient Monk.

And no I dont eat fish.

Also you should know that I have owned a shotgun and firearms licence since I was 13. I used to be an active hunter, though I dont shoot these days, I still take my dogs hunting as I like to see them work.

I'm a vegetarian because my GF is and its more convienent to cook dinner for the two of us rather than seperately.
Having said that the older I've got the more I find being a vegetarian favourable, as the meat in Mongolia didn't look too good when I was out there and I could say the same about supermarket meat.

It's not about how the meat looks (personally I think it looks fantastic, meat looks better raw imo). It's about how you prepare it.
How did I let myself down by the way? Because there is no way you can truly have no harm to animals if you even live so trying and saying you help is hypocritical.

However you seem to have ulterior reasons than DEM CUTE ANIMALZ. I respect the reason you gave and shall leave my arguments to the vegetarians who claim to do no harm.

I don't eat meat(unless you count eggs), but I am not a vegetarian as I eat very few(any?) vegetables. I hate the way they look, smell and taste. Don't know why, I suppose I am defective. Not sure how I am alive...
