Hey all, while compiling Return to City 17 I started work on another map, but figured I'd do a test first to ensure the concepts would work. Anyways, it turns out that the monster_tentacle never attacked! It would bang away fruitlessly at the ground, never damaging me, even though I was standing right where it was hitting!

So my question is: does the monster_tentacle actually work at all?

Do I need HLS mounted for it to work properly? Or is there some other trick to get it to work like it does in HL1?

if i remember right it doesn't do damage even in the HL:S in OC :O

Parent a trigger_hurt to the head bone with some offset so it's just on the end of the bill?

You can't parent it to a certeain bone in hammer i think, but it should work when you fire an input "SetParentsAttachment" and "setparentsattachmentoffset" or whatever they are called.

I'm not sure but I think it's bounding box or whatever screws up & it starts to float into the air? It currently hurts you I think if you walk into the middle of it for some reason. but no certainly its actual claw/head thing whatever dosen't.

In HL:S, when you jump in the middle of it, you get hurt. He has some spikes in the Tentacle cluster.

Well in umizuri I remember when someone caught the tentacle if you stood right in front of it you can get hurt/killed.
