Sprites and beams

Just having a few problems with them.
With some sprites such as the hl1 teleport which i wish to use has the black background on and cant seem to stop it.
The beams also has a problem were i can see some of the right threw the map even when there the same texture as other ones that work.
Help please ?

I had the same problem.
Open the properties of the sprite, go to render mode and change it to "additive" (world space glow for "lights").
I cant understand you what is your problem about the beams.

Look at the first 5 pics you can see the orange beam even when brushes and stuff are in the way

It has something to do with the material itself, I think there is a parameter in the vmt that allows textures to ignore z-distance.
edit/remove that parameter and make your own texture or use something else...
I'm sure you can set colors of a beam if it was using the white one (like the ones in the cylinder)

thanks just used the white and changed colour and it works fine
PS no need to use the Lord's name in vain over grammer
