oc_vs_canyon Beta 1

Yeah, this is my first Obsidian Conflict teamplay map. I thought it would be fun to make one for OC, since it adds all the beta weapons and you can make your own if you wanted to. So yeah.

SHORT STORY
You survived the train crash on the bridge, and fell down into the water. A few refugees found you and rescued you into their small wooden safe house. While you were asleep, the enemy team killed your teammates. Now, you must fight back, and wait until, if any, rescue arrives.

FULL STORY

You were in a convoy of 4 people, John, Tim, Jack (you) and Peter. Your mission was to find a few diseased citizens that had the deadly disease Deadly Troops Virus that originated Combine genetic engineering. On your way there, your train had crashed due to some combine train jams on the track. John had died due to a beam going through him, and the rest of you had been knocked out. The train also carried a van for once they got off the train, complete with a radio for communication and supplies. A few rebels who had a safehouse down in the Canyon had heard the train crash had climbed up the grain elevator to reach you, and brought you down. You then woke up to find that the rebels had been killed. You then try to wake up Peter, John and Tim to find out that they all had contracted the virus. So, you scavaged around for a SMG and fought back, and you hoped, for rescue to arrive.
THEME
It's themed in a wasteland-type coastal area.

oh wow that looks absolutely great!


Edit: also it looks like you didn't add any fade distance to the props, or it could just be me seeing things lol

Well, aren't you a dark horse, looks like you can map.
I'm away traveling but, once I'm back up and running I'll be sure to check this out.

All I can say is it would be nice to see you try your hand at some Npc mapping (co-op). But I'm sure for some stress relief this will be fragging fun.

Thank you all for the positive comments. I'm glad my first OC map wasn't crap after all!

Yeah, i made about 2 EP2 story maps, but i cant seem to mount Ep2 content when mapping for OC.

Shiftey is the man to ask about this and there is probably some info in a thread about this.

I personally also don't have ep2 mounted in hammer, so I normally half map with a ep2 setup or with an OC setup. Or I map with OC adding the models and materials to my oc folder as I go along.

You sound like you know what your doing, I hope you continue to map.
Also the _cfg.txt and _modify.txt can really help you with things such as 'work arounds' and used with the oc modify generator, some wonderful things are possible.
