Obsidian Conflict is a free Source Engine cooperative multiplayer modification set in the Half-Life 2 universe. It features a large amount of different gameplay features on all-new maps specially designed for the mod with focus on cooperative gameplay, as well as being able to play through vanilla Half-Life: Source all the way up to Half-Life 2: Episode 2.
Windows Vista or above and a Steam account so Source SDK Base 2007 can be installed. The new version will need Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer.
Bear in mind that if you want to play any of the Half-Life campaigns / CS:S / DOD:S maps you need to have these games installed and mounted, otherwise you will miss the content.
Currently the supported games that can be mounted are Half-Life: Source, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Counter-Strike: Source and Day of Defeat: Source.
For the new version, the new mount system allows to load any game and mod compatible with Source SDK Base 2013, but all the games / mods released on newer engine branchs like Alien Swarm or Black Mesa can't be mounted due to different file formats.
Reminder that mounting only allows the content of the loaded games/mods to be used, not their code like weapons or npcs (unless they're already implemented in OC).
In 2006 the creators of Missing Information, Skidz and Hyperjag3, wanted to work on the multiplayer aspect of the mod, inspired by Sven Co-op. After seeing that Sven Co-op 2 would never come, they started to experiment with Co-op gameplay for MI.
As development progressed, they decided to turn it into a separate mod, since most of the MI team wanted to focus on porting the leak campaign to retail instead. As such, both teams split and Obsidian Conflict was born. That's why older versions of OC had some leak content..
Originally, Obsidian Conflict was to have a set storyline, which was based on the Combine testing humans as warriors on a series of trials called "The Obsidian Trials", but this idea was abandoned in favour of an open story.
The name "Obsidian Conflict" comes from the obsidian stone, blue shiny and dark at the same time, the conflict between light and dark, rebels against the Combine.
There is an old article which tells OC's story in greater detail here.
Gameplay-wise no. Those who donate 5€ / ~$6 or more can choose to show their name in any colour in game ( chat, scoreboard, target ID and death notice ).
The donor list is hardcoded within the mod currently so it only gets updated on each new version of the mod. We would like to change this to a more flexible solution though.
For more questions about donating, visit the Donate page.

Already has, is just private, together with the Steam Store page. It will come with the release.
Since a couple of versions OC supports both the classic Bhop ( forward ), the OrangeBox Bhop ( backwards ) or directly disable any Bhop with "mp_bunnyhop 0 / 1 / 2".
Prop flying / bumping doesn't work as objects held by players were reworked so the issues they give on MP are reduced.
